New political program The Verdict needs to ‘pull its socks up’ quickly if it doesn’t want to end up on the television scrap heap, says Tom Elliott.

The show, hosted by Karl Stefanovic, debuted on Channel 9 this week and feedback has been mixed.

3AW Drive host Tom Elliott said it was a ‘shouting fest’ between those on the panel that included names like Mark Latham and Campbell Brown.

‘Look, it’s the first time the show has been on so I’ll give it a few more goes but it’s going to have to pull its socks up,’ Tom explained on 3AW.

‘Frankly, it didn’t really get to grip with things last night.

‘Too many people were talking at once.’
