Did you know that Queenslanders call a school-bag a ‘port’? 

Or that South Australians have the most distinctive accent in the country?

Sydney Kingstone is researching the Aussie accent at ANU, and told Tom Elliott she’s found there’s more difference in regional dialects than has been reported previously.

But she reckons that with globalisation of media, the Aussie accent may be softening.
