Jacqui Felgate has called out the Werribee MP Tim Lister for a video he posted to social media.

The video was posted in support of the Allan government’s youth crime announcement, referring to people, ‘calling up 3AW’ to ‘whinge’ about youth crime.

The 3AW Drive host said in response to the video, “these victims are not whinging”.

“People have a right to be heard when they are assaulted and injured and terrorised in their own home.”

Rohan, who spoke on 3AW Drive about the horrifying teen brawl at Woolworths in Werribee on the weekend, also criticised Mr Lister’s comments.

“Really poor choice of words from John,” Rohan said.

The member for Werribee was invited on to 3AW Drive, but declined and offered the following statement:

I can’t make it on your program today as I’m required in the chamber and also have a meeting with retail workers from my electorate to discuss our new laws to protect customer facing workers. As you can appreciate, I have to prioritize my responsibilities in the chamber and to my constituents.

I would like to add my support for the Premier’s announcement on adult time for violent crime. These have come out of conversations we have all had, I have spoken to my local police and community groups to help inform our response. I will continue to work in government to support our community with stronger laws and early intervention.
