‘They send you around in a circle’: Holding Uber accountable
A man whose credit card details were stolen and used to set up an Uber account has told 3AW just how difficult it was to get a hold of the company to cancel the fraudulent account.
Ted told Neil Mitchell it was impossible to get a hold of an actual person to speak to after he lost thousands of dollars.
“One day alone there was $780 worth of charges, to Uber Eats and Uber trips all over town,” Ted said.
“Someone got a hold of my credit card details somewhere along the way.
“You get directed to the App which I did, you get a response which sends you around in a circle.
“They write back – we have no support phone number.”

Thankfully Ted’s bank refunded the amount so he wasn’t left out of pocket.
