Police have been pelted with bottles after a large brawl broke out among Schoolies in Rye on Saturday night.

Officers were monitoring the foreshore about 9.30pm when a fight broke out.

Inspector Janene Denton, Mornington Peninsula Local Area Commander, told Neil Mitchell no charges have been laid at this stage.

“We’re certainly reviewing the CCTV in the area,” Inspector Denton said.

“They probably took an incident far too far.”

“Police were the subject of having glass bottles thrown at them,” she said.

“We’ll certainly do our best to identify those who were throwing the bottles and prosecute them.”
