‘They’ve lied’: McKinnon resident calls out energy company over compensation denial
A McKinnon resident says United Energy is lying to him and his neighbours after refusing to issue compensation for damages following a power surge.
Todd is counting the cost after the surge earlier in January caused around $8,000 of damage to appliances and lights in his home.
But he says the energy company has “denied any sort of accountability” during the compensation process.

“We were encouraged to put in a claim (to United Energy) and we’ve just received word yesterday that they won’t be acknowledging that claim,” he told 3AW Drive.
“They’ve denied any sort of accountability, they’ve lied and said (to me) that no one else has put in a claim where I know both of our neighbours have put in a claim.”
