The impending closure of The Carringbush Hotel in Abbotsford this coming Sunday has highlighted the dire situation facing businesses in Victoria according to Tom Elliott.
The pub would have to charge $20 for a pint of beer just to make a profit, with the rise in wages, insurance and electricity among the key factors forcing the closure.
“This saddens me,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

CEO of the Australian Retailers Association, Paul Zahra, spoke on the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, with some concerning results for small businesses, in particular the hospitality industry.
“It’s very concerning out there,” Mr Zahra told Tom Elliott.
