A BONNET-FUL OF BBQ

Speaking of all you eat, how about Bluebonnet’s festive season Bottomless Barbecue. It’s running from 27th December to 10th January and gives you a free flowing supply of chef Chris Terlikar’s signature slow-cooked brisket, ribs, sausages, sides and more for $65pp (excl. drinks). SINGER’S SOIREE

One of the Yarra Valley’s best keep secrets, Coombe Yarra Valley is teaming up with online wine seller ‘Vinomofo’ for a stupendous sounding summer wine soiree at the former home of Dame Nellie Melba. Could be a last minute Chrissie gift, or a way to spoil yourself over summer. It’s all happening Sunday Jan 20, and the $130 ticket will get you free flowing Coombe wine for the afternoon, a selection of craft beers, the chance to be one of the first in the world to try Coombe’s new London Dry Gin, an Oyster/blanc de blanc bar, canapés and lunch-sized tasting boards, live entertainment and more. It’s worth it just for a look at this beautiful piece of Victoria’s history. Tix: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/coombe-yarra-valley-summer-garden-party-tickets-53718060164

GOING FOR GOLDIE

Keep an eye out for “Goldie Asian Canteen + Brews”, the CBD’s latest casual restaurant serving Asian flavours with a twist. Chef Michael Smith is in charge, formerly of Melbourne institutions Mamasita and Tonka, and he’s bringing us fun dishes like Peking Duck & Noodle Toasties, Brekkie Bao, and Togaroshi Mayo – an Asian twist on the chicken schnitzel roll. There’s the usual suspects on the drinks menu, or you can try their take on a boozy bubble tea, like the Coffee Cup – a blend of cold brew coffee, Kahlua vodka and tonic tapioca pearls. It’s at 399 Lt Lonsdale St in the city; GoldieCanteen.com.au
