TOTALLY WILD:

Having hosted international guests for the last couple of years, Healesville Sanctuary has become a staple for me on the itinerary – but it’s about to get a bit wilder!

Over the Queen’s Birthday weekend (10-12 June) they’re hosting “Wine and Wildlife” – from 11am – 4pm each day there’ll be five different spaces hosting local wineries, breweries, distilleries and eateries.

All proceeds will support Zoo Victoria’s efforst to fight the extinction of 21 local threatened species.

Tastings are included with your general admission ticket, kids under 16 free. www.zoo.org.au/healesville

 BOWLED OVER:

Southeast Asian noshery tenpin has rolled its way a little further down Beach road towards St Kilda to set up shop in a striking new premises.

The focus here by former Chin Chin chef Ashley Richey is fresh, flavour-packed, fun Asian fare.

Mop up your chilli jam with fluffy nann bread when you order the stir fried Portarlington mussels, and fire up your taste buds with the hot chilli roast duck lab.

For something light and brighter, the kingfish sashimi with coconut cream and rep pepper jaew will knock you over.

Top tip: ask your waiter about the giant bowling pin the corner. www.tenpinkitchen.com.au

NATIONAL BURGER DAY:

The Dandenong Market is playing host to ‘National Burger Day’ on Sunday, there’s lots of funky and freaky burgers to try.

Burger lovers can pick up a ‘Burger Passport’ and collect stamps at each stall for the chance to take home $500 in Dandenong Market vouchers.

The Good Food and Wine show returns to Melbourne from 2nd to 4th June, giving you a big day out discovering new foods, wines and latest products – don’t we love those samples!!

In the Good Food Theatre, catch chefs like Manu Fiedel, Matt Moran, and Marion Grasby doing their thang, there’s a new pop-up dining precinct, and even a “Smelly Cheese Project” – hmmmmm!
