THIS WEEK IN FOOD

FESTIVAL FIESTA – The 2019 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival program was released this week, and if you want to head along, you better have look at it soon as the best events sell out quick. This year, international guests include Matt Abergel from Hong Kong, Jake Kellie from Burnt Ends in Singapore, Nicolai Nørregaard from Copenhagen – you can see them at the House of Food at Wine in Southbank or select one of the program’s special lunches, dinners and events. Plus look out for the middle weekend when the festival takes over an entire country Victorian town. More info on all events at – www.mfwf.com.au

CHIN CHIN, PIMM PIMM – Quintessential British fave PIMMs is taking over the terrace overlooking the Yarra at Fatto Restaurant. That means stunning views, comfy deck chairs, plenty of PIMM’S, and a curated Fatto apperitivo selection to match. We’re talking bites like Salt Kitchen Charcuterie mortadella and capocollo; house made pork, chicken and pistachio terrine; Victorian strawberries and fig leaf cream; and even PIMMs icypoles. You can’t miss it, just outside Fatto next to Hamer Hall. http://fatto.com.au/

NO DEGREES – He’s everywhere, he’s everywhere – from the Yarra Valley to Bahrain, now it’s not just pizza … so if you need somewhere to take the kids over the sweaty summer holidays, how about Zero Gradi – the Gelateria next door to 400 Gradi in Brunswick. They’re producing authentic gelato offered in a cornucopia of rotating flavours; plus cakes, shakes, coffee and desserts. Most importantly, for the adults, they’re about to launch an Aperol gelato! http://400gradi.com.au/location/zero-gradi/

PERFECT PINTXOS – And as we have learned, Williamstown has finally got it’s own taste of San Sebastian right on Willi Beach. Sebastian has opened in the old Pavillion, and it’s a stunning transformation. Light an bright interiors, stylish leather booths, an expansive timber deck, and killer views are perfect accompaniments to the fab menu based around the team’s charcoal grill and cold smoker and their love of Basque cuisine. I went in on their opening day and was rapt with the food on offer. www.sebastianbeachgrill.com
