Thousands flock to the CBD for Invasion Day rally

Tony Moclair

Thousands of people have flocked to ‘Invasion Day’ rally Melbourne’s CBD.

Protesters are marching in solidarity with First Nations people and campaigning for the date of Australia Day to be changed.

“There’s a lot of people here. I’ve heard a lot of people here … describe it as the biggest they’ve ever seen it,” 9News reporter on the scene, Adam Hegarty, told Dee Dee.

“They want to be heard today and I think it’d be hard not to listen, it is a big, big contingent of people marching.”

Rally organisers are this year calling for a treaty between First Nations people and the wider community to be made priority over The Voice to Parliament referendum.
