Thousands are expected to protest in Melbourne’s CBD tomorrow in a bid to raise the plight of Australian workers and wages.

ACTU boss Sally McManus says the minimum wage leaves everyday Australians unable to support themselves.

The Change the Rules rally will start at 10.30am at Trades Hall, finishing up at 1.30pm at Federation Square.

“Inequality is at a 70-year high, we want to change that,” she told Tom Elliott.

“We want to make sure people get fair pay rises.”

The union is calling for a change in workpace laws, for wages to increase and better workplace security for Australian workers.

“We worry if we don’t stand up and make a noise, we will pass on to the next generation low paid work and insecure jobs and we are not prepared to do that,” she said.

She said it would likely be disruptive for roughly two hours.
