Three Australians among Nigerian hostages freed
Three Australians and a New Zealander, kidnapped in Nigeria, have been freed.
The men are among a group of seven workers, taken in a terrifying abduction last week when their Nigerian driver was shot dead.
After days of uncertainty, their employer – Perth-based mining company Macmahon Holdings – has confirmed they’re now safe.
It says they were freed by their kidnappers, though Nigerian police claim they rescued the men.
Five of them are injured, two seriously — and they’re receiving medical attention.
The next priority will be getting them home to their families, who have been able to speak with their loved ones.
