Three lives have been lost in three separate crashes on Victorian roads in the past 24 hours.

The latest fatal crash happened at Bundoora at about 4.10am.

The driver of an Audi sedan lost control and crossed over to the wrong side of Plenty Road, before striking a pole.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.

In a second crash, a man died when he was hit by a truck on the Western Highway at Thornhill Park at about 10.30pm.

A truck driver also died when his vehicle jackknifed at Buxton, east of Melbourne, and hit a tree at about 1.30pm yesterday afternoon. A passenger was trapped for some time and was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

There have been 109 lives lost on Victoria’s road so far this year, compared to 95 at the same time last year.
