Three men armed with hammers have forced their way into a service station in Melbourne’s west, making off with cash and cigarettes.

It was about 4.30 this morning when six men in a stolen car attended the 7-Eleven at the corner of Heath Road and Tarneit Road in Werribee.

John Deeks on Australia Overnight was tipped off to the incident by a caller earlier this morning.

Police say three men armed with hammers got out of the car and forced entry into the service station.

They stole cash and cigarettes before returning to the car and driving off.

About 5.40am police arrested three men in Norlane in relation to the incident.

The investigation is on going.
