A shipwreck has sunk a dinghy, sparking a dramatic rescue off Black Rock in Melbourne’s south east.

Three men, all from Brighton East, set off in the inflatable boat to watch the sunset off Black Rock on Sunday night.

They soon came across the Cerberus shipwreck, which then punctured the dinghy.

Water police said the men then climbed on top of the historic wreck, calling out to a fisherman on the pier to raise the alarm shortly before 11pm.
