Thousands of Ticketmaster customers across Australia are being warned to check their bank accounts following a cyber attack on the ticket seller’s operations in Britain.

The cyber attack involving a third party was initially discovered by the company in the UK on Saturday.

Ticketmaster concedes about five per cent of customers globally have been impacted, with banking information and other personal details possibly accessed.

Ticketmaster in Australia is contacting customers via email, urging them to change their passwords.

They say anyone who has purchased, or tried to buy tickets using the company website between September last year and now should monitor their bank statements for any suspicious activity.

They says forensic teams and security experts are working around the clock to understand how the data was compromised.
