‘Time to shut up’: Jacqui Felgate slams commentary over Treasurer’s wife, and questions budget decisions

Jacqui Felgate has reacted to the new federal budget which includes a $300 electricity rebate for everyone.

The Drive host says the budget is essentially an election budget and questioned why the super wealthy will also receive the money.

“There is so many people who earn so very little, and who are under immense financial pressure that have a dire need for that money,” she said.

She’s also weighed in on the commentary surrounding Treasure Jim Chalmers’ wife, Laura who wore an expensive dress to the Parliament last night.

She says the implication, by other mastheads claiming the treasurer is “out of touch” because of his wife, is he is responsible for her.

“She’s a successful woman in her own right, who can buy and wear whatever she likes,” she added.

“How is this still a discussion in 2024? … It’s time to shut up.”
