Victoria Police are considering changes to highway collection permits in 2018, to limit tin rattler locations to intersections within 60km per hour zones.

First heard on The Rumour File, 3AW Mornings has found an online form stating that where locations have previously been up to 70km per hour, that’s set to change next year.

Neil Mitchell suggested a common intersection that would be effected by this change, the 70km zone at the corner of Dandenong Road and Chapel Street.

But it seems Victoria Police may have jumped the gun.

“I’m told it was accidentally sent out early,” Senior Producer Heidi Murphy said of the form.

“But they are reviewing this change, due to public safety and a number of incidents at intersections involving highway collectors.”
