As the war in Europe rages on, unfettered images of the conflict are being pumped into our screens.

They are often confronting and disturbing, and kids have more access to them than ever.

So how do we talk to kids about traumatic events like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine?

Lecturer in Early Childhood Education and Care at the University of Melbourne, Dr Ben Deery, told Tom Elliott giving them some hope or a positive action can be beneficial.

“We could write a letter to someone about this,” he said on 3AW Drive.

“Or we could collect some blankets … and do something that’s a bit more proactive.”
