Tom Elliot slams Casey City Council’s ‘nonsensical’ trip to China
Tom Elliot has slammed Casey City Council’s push to establish a sister-city relationship with an Israeli city as well as a planned $25,000 trip to China.
‘I think it’s an absolutely dumb idea, why on earth would you want to do that?’ Tom said on 3AW Drive.
Leader newspaper reported the Mayor of Casey and several staffers will go to China and visit the world’s largest shopping centre, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and the Jinli Ancient Street.
Speaking on 3AW Drive, Mayor of Casey Council, Councillor Sam Aziz said they will not be visiting the pandas, but will still be going to China.
‘We are going to China because it is a reservoir of investment that local governments around Australia are looking to tap into, to grow local infastructre.’
‘The idea that Casey will learn something from Chengdu or possibly form a relationship in Israel is just nonsensical’ Tom said.
