Tom Elliott backs church under attack for refusing to marry couple over same-sex marriage support

Tom Elliott has thrown his support behind a Ballarat Minister who refused to marry a couple after the bride-to-be expressed support for same-sex marriage on social media.

The 3AW Drive host said the church was fully entitled to decide who got married there.

“You know what? I’m not religious, but I support the church in this,” he said.

“If you don’t like it, get married somewhere else.

“There is no doubt that in this ongoing debate about same-sex marriage the issue of religious rights is gradually coming to the fore.”
