A report with findings from random drug tests at two Victorian jails found roughly 25 per cent of Victorian prisoners had illicit drugs in their system.

3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott questioned whether the current system was the most effective way of restricting drug use.

“I just don’t think we can go down this current path of obfuscation, leaving it as a technical crime but not doing anything about it, I just don’t like that,” he said.
