The latest instalment in children’s author Andy Griffiths’ Treehouse series, ‘the 78th Storey Treehouse’, recently busted records to become the fastest selling Australian book – ever.

It’s no small achievement, particularly when getting kids away from their ipads seems almost impossible these days.

He and writing partner Terry Denton know a few things about making reading magical for kids.

The books are ‘clear, exciting and funny’ and a little ‘dangerous’. Griffiths wants his young readers to sometimes be ‘a bit scared’ – he told Tom Elliott.

Enid Blyton was a major influence on his writing – she was smart enough to ‘get rid of the adults’ from her books – he said on 3AW Drive.

It works for Tom. His six-year-old daughter is a huge fan, and she had a few questions of her own for Griffiths.
