Tom Elliott clashes with criminal lawyer over Labor’s plan to fix the bail system

Tom Elliott has clashed with a criminal lawyer over the state government’s proposed fix to the bail system.

Criminal solicitor Sam Norton told Tom Elliott Victoria would continue to have bad outcomes if they treated being tough on crime as “good”.

“Treating children like adults is not a sensible approach,” Mr Norton said on 3AW Mornings.

The 3AW Mornings host pointed out repeat offenders have said they don’t believe they’ll face repercussions.

“That neatly encapsulated the problem that we have,” he said.
