Tom Elliott debates refugee policy with Youth Governor Amanda Gailiss

A lot of ideas get thrown around regarding Australia’s immigration policy.

But Tom Elliott has one idea that never seems to be proposed.

‘We never seem to debate whether or not immigration is a good idea. We just take it as a given,’ he said.

Tom debated refugee policy with Youth Governor Amanda Gailiss in studio on Friday.

Ms Gailiss said Jordan was a good example of a country going above and beyond to help Syrian refugees.

Jordan, with one-third of the population of Australia, has taken in over a million refugees from its war-torn neighbour.

‘I’m not saying we should as many as they do, but we definitely have the capacity to take more than we currently do,’ she said.
