Tom Elliott discovers the curious sport of fistball

Have you ever heard of fistball?

Tom Elliott hadn’t – until Chris Milne introduced him to it on Wednesday.

Milne is the setter of the Australian national fistball team, and told Tom it’s a similar sport to volleyball but with a few key differences. 

‘It’s a bigger court, the ball is a little heavier, and you cannot use an open hand ? hence the name,’ Milne said.

Milne will be representing Australia at the World Men’s Fistball Championships in Argentina, but he’s not expecting to go deep in the tournament.

‘We haven’t been playing for very long.’
