Tom Elliott discusses Australia’s alarming suicide rate with Patrick McGorry
More Australians than ever before are taking their own life.
So why aren’t we talking about it?
New data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics has shown a jump from 12.2 to 12.7 per cent over the past year.
More than 3000 Australians took their life in that period of time, more than double the national road toll.
‘These are preventable deaths,’ Professor Patrick McGorry told Tom Elliott.
‘Until we talk about it, we aren’t going to be able to deal with it.’
