Tom Elliott has explained how Melbourne was “at its finest” on the weekend.

The 3AW Mornings host had some comments to get off his chest, after lots of negative talk about the city in recent times.

“I know there’s been a lot of negativity about crime and machetes … but Saturday was Melbourne at its finest,” he said.

3AW host Heidi Murphy also launched a strong defence of Melbourne on the Sunday Morning program with Darren James and Nick McCallum.

“There are far too many commentators and influencers, who are prepared to just write this city off and declare it wildly unsafe,” Murphy said.
