Tom Elliott explains why you should be seething over latest energy price explosion

Tom Elliott says Victorians have every right to be seething over plans to increase energy prices by more than $400 a year for residential customers on the Victorian default offer, particularly given the range of “stupid” political promises made recently.
Regardless, he said it makes zero sense for Australian power prices to be soaring.
“We should have the cheapest power in the world, but for very various – mainly to do with government policy – we do not,” the 3AW Drive host said on Wednesday.

HelpPay co-founder Rowan Wilde, who used to work at Red Energy, said it was a “huge kick in the guts” for many Victorians.
“Bills rising by an average of $426 will just be simply unaffordable for a lot of people,” he said.
