Tom Elliott grills V/Line CEO over wheels on defective trains

V/Line admits it’s looking into whether a different type of wheel is needed for the defective V/Locity trains.

The rail operator insists the wheels manufactured were built to specification.

But interim CEO Gary Liddle conceded on 3AW Drive that specification may need to be changed.

‘It’s clearly one of the things we want to look at,’ he told Tom Elliott.

The issue is expected to drag on until the middle of the year.

‘It’s pretty obvious what’s happened,’ 3AW Drive host Tom Elliott said after the interview.

‘The wheels are to specification, but the specification clearly isn’t up to scratch.’
