It is being claimed that older people looking for work are being discriminated against by employers.

Jenny Mobbs, Executive Director of the Council on the Ageing, told Tom Elliott it’s not because they are less qualified.

Ms Mobbs pointed to a report put out by former Senator Susan Ryan that was released in June.

‘The Willing to Work report showed there is distinct discrimination against older Australians,’ she said.

Ms Mobbs said the Japanese workforce is a good model for integrating older people into employment.
