Tom Elliott helps a Neighbours superfan from Northern Ireland speak with her favourite character!

Iconic Australian TV show Neighbours will finish up tonight after 37 years on television.

Few Australian productions, if any, have had such an impact on a global scale.

3AW Drive got in touch with Karen, from Northern Ireland, who first started watching the soap as a child some 28 years ago.

“It really is the highlight of the evening for me after a hard day at work,” she told Tom Elliott.

Her favourite character has been Paul Robinson, so much so her now-husband proposed wearing a mask of the character.

“He thought there’d be a better chance of me saying yes,” she said with a laugh.

We thought it was only fair to give Karen a chance to speak with Stefan Dennis, who plays Paul Robinson, on-air as a surprise.

“I think I could cry!” she said when she first heard Stefan’s voice.
