Tom Elliott was left appalled by the latest NAPLAN results, which revealed roughly a third of all students in Australia can’t read, write and count at the appropriate level.

“To me, it says the system is failing and there is something deeply wrong with it that needs fixing ASAP,” the 3AW Drive host said.

He had a willing conversation about education in Australia with Correna Haythorpe, the Federal President of the Australian Education Union, about the issues.
