Tom Elliott left furious by comment showing the ‘bald-faced arrogance’ of disgraced Archbishop
Tom Elliott has been left incensed by a letter sent out to families by disgraced Archbishop Philip Wilson, who has been convicted of covering up the sexual abuse of children.
In the letter, he asked parishioners to “please continue to pray for me” following his decision to stand down as Archbishop of Adelaide.
He was found guilty of covering up the sexual abuse of children in the 1970s and is currently awaiting sentencing.
He faces up to two years in jail.
“Why on earth would you ‘pray’ for this bloke!?” an angry Tom Elliott said on Friday.
“He’s been found guilty of covering up the sexual abuse of minors.
“If you’re going to pray … you should probably pray he gets the maximum possible sentence and goes to the worst possible jail.
“I still think too many senior people in the Catholic Church just don’t get it.
“How could this bloke have the bald-faced arrogance here to demand his parishioners pray for him.
“He has been found guilty in a secular court of covering up sexual abuse and trying to sweep it under the carpet.”
