Tom Elliott has criticised some changes to the tax system which he says defy comprehension.

He’s taken aim at a new tax on cruise ships which has already seen one major cruise refuse to sale out of Melbourne in the future, and a new proposal by the Greens on the land tax for vacant homes.

“They want to triple the land tax on vacant homes, and it looks like it’s going to get through the state government … I accept we have a rental crisis but if you own a home and you want to keep it vacant, it’s yours!” he said.
