Tom Elliott on the ‘idiotic’ claim made by Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio

A statement made by Victorian Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio has been criticised after tens of thousands of Victorians lost power last night, despite the minister saying yesterday it wouldn’t happen.

The 3AW Mornings host says her comment was “idiotic” to make on a day of extreme heat.

“Transformers blow up, anything that’s powered by electricity can overheat and cease to function. To claim that there wouldn’t be any blackouts was a really, really dumb thing to say,” he said.
