Tom Elliott on the ‘very good reasons’ why more Australians aren’t having more children
Tom Elliott says there are good reasons for why Australians are having less children, after Jim Chalmers called for Australians to have more babies.
He points out the last time a federal treasurer pushed for more births, they implemented a “sizeable” baby bonus.
“Now, $5 grand back then, was a sizeable sum of money, it wasn’t nearly as much, obviously, of what it costs to raise a baby, but it actually lifted the birth rate,” he said.
