Tom Elliott has questioned whether the Victorian government ever had any intention of hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2026.

It comes after Daniel Andrews sensationally announced on Tuesday the state would be seeking to tear up the contract to host the games.

“You’ve been conned by a government that, I believe, never had any intention of actually staging the games and just wanted a few votes in regional Victoria,” Tom Elliott said on Tuesday.
