Tom Elliott reacts to ‘bizarre’ ban on test for AFL hopefuls
Tom Elliott has criticised the AFL’s decision to dump skinfold testing on draft prospects due to fears the test is a form of “body-shaming” and could fuel mental health issues among young footballers.
But Tom Elliott says keeping in shape is all part of being a professional athlete.
The AFL directive has reportedly left several club recruiters bewildered.
“You can measure how fast they run, how high they jump, how well they can mark the ball – all that sort of thing – but you can’t measure whether their body fat is at an acceptable level?” the 3AW Drive host said in response to the reports.
