Tom Elliott says Victorians have every right to feel suspicious after local media was banned from attending the Post Pandemic China-Australia Economic Cooperation Forum on Monday night.

Daniel Andrews spoke at the event.

“It was an important event,” the Premier said on Tuesday.

But only Chinese media was allowed inside.

“It has to make you feel suspicious? Why would you bar local media for any reason other than something is being said at this event that you don’t want reported on,” Tom Elliott said.

It comes after the Premier was criticised for recently visiting China without Australian media present.

The Premier’s office told 3AW Drive the event was not run by the state government and they were unsure why local media was unable to attend.
