Tom Elliott says the Victorian government risks “straining” its relationship with the public if it makes COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for children as young as five.

It’s reportedly being considered.

Tom Elliott, who got vaccinated as soon as he was eligible, said he was “all for vaccination” but said many parents would feel differently, even if they were vaccinated themselves.

“I have a funny feeling that is going to strain people’s faith in the government,” he said.

The 3AW Drive host acknowledged other vaccines were all but mandatory for young people, but said there was “no doubt” a lot of people “felt differently” about the COVID-19 jab.
