Tom Elliott has reacted to the new right to disconnect laws set to be introduced in Australia from next Monday.

Australian workers will now have the legal right to ignore work communications outside of working hours, with the 3AW Mornings host stating “there’s all sorts of ramifications here”.

“It’s going to change the modern workplace,” he said.

Leading employment and industrial law barrister, Ian Neil SC, explained the new laws, stating it only applies to non-small business employers, with small business employers to have another year before any laws are introduced for them.

“Much will depend on the nature of the employee’s role and the level of responsibility,” Mr Neil told Tom Elliott.
