Tom Elliott reveals why the bid for the Commonwealth Games was a ‘sham’

Tom Elliott has taken aim at Victoria’s bid for the now cancelled Commonwealth Games, saying the bid was always a sham.

“It was always designed to conjure up extra votes for the government in regional parts of Victoria … It wasn’t like the Comm Games made sense and then a year and a half later they didn’t make sense. Even when the government bid for them back in April 2022, they already knew the figures didn’t stack up,” he said.
