Tom Elliott says the federal government ‘deserves’ to lose next election

Tom Elliott says he expects Malcolm Turnbull to lose the next election.

The 3AW Drive host said the government was floundering and could not sell a message.

‘I think they’ll lose the next election and I think they deserve to,’ Tom Elliott said.

It follows an awkward exchange between employment minister Michaelia Cash and Neil Mitchell earlier in the day.

‘Michaelia Cash – who is regarded as one of the more competent ministers in the Turnbull administration – had absolutely no idea,’ Tom Elliott said.

‘If this is typical of the Turnbull Government, then they are absolutely stuffed when it comes to the next election, there’s no doubt about it.’
