The Victorian government is considering implementing another new tax on motorists, Tom Elliott has revealed.

3AW Drive has been alerted to the proposed levy from an “inside source” who said the new fee would impact a large chunk of drivers.

“Anybody who has a car with an engine displacement bigger than two litres will be paying this levy,” Tom Elliott said on Tuesday.

“They will want you to buy an electric car instead.

“And it’s going to make motoring more and more expensive.”

Tom Elliott said the likely motive was to please the Greens.

He said drivers continued to be unfairly slugged.

“I can tell you, as a motorist, I’ve absolutely had enough,” he said.

A government spokesperson denied the tax was being considered when asked for comment from 3AW Drive.

Geoff Gwilym, CEO of the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce, said he “hadn’t heard anything” from government, but wouldn’t support the levy if it was being considered.
