Tom Elliott slams ‘disgusting hypocrisy’ from the Greens over footy tickets

Tom Elliott has taken the “hypocritical” Greens to task after it emerged Ellen Sandell enjoyed a free ticket to the AFL grand final just weeks after her party called for politicians to hand them to “ordinary fans” who would miss out.

The state MP for Melbourne was given three tickets to two finals, including the decider, as a guest of the Melbourne City Council.

“On one hand, the Greens like to lecture corporations and the so-called fat cats of society who get the best seats at the football for nothing, but on the other hand – when MPs like Ellen Sandell are themselves offered free seats – they grasp them without a moment’s thought,” he said.

“It’s disgusting.

“It’s hypocritical.

“Why do we let the Greens lecture us when they do not practice what they preach?”
