Tom Elliott slams ‘ridiculous’ idea to build memorial for drug victims

Tom Elliott says a proposed memorial for drug overdose victims, which has been passed by the City of Yarra, is a “ridiculous” idea.

The 3AW Drive host said people who took drugs were criminals and shouldn’t be celebrated for it.

“What’s next? Are we going to commemorate the brave shoplifters who manage to evade the clutches of police? Are we going to erect a statue of a Holden Commodore to celebrate those who drink-drive and somehow get away with it?” Tom Elliott asked.

“When do we acknowledge criminal behaviour is not something to be memorialised or celebrated?”
