Tom Elliott slams ‘unbelievable’ racial aspect to job application process

Tom Elliott has taken aim at some of Australia’s leading financial firms over a controversial new aspect to their recruiting process.

It’s been revealed prospective employees are now being asked to detail their ethnic backgrounds during their applications in a bid to ‘reflect’ society.

Tom Elliott says it’s ridiculous.

”You should not ask employees their ethnic or cultural background ? it is irrelevant in business,’ the 3AW Drive host said.

‘All that counts is employing the best person for the job.’

He said Australia was quickly heading down a ‘damaging path’.

‘We will all get along better if we just see ourselves purely as Australians and stop thinking we’re mixtures of different blood and different ethnicities,’ he explained.

‘But it seems I am increasingly isolated in this view.’
