Tom Elliott slams Victorian Children’s Court as ‘out of touch’

Following the recent firebombing of Bar Bambi, a 16-year-old who was convicted of the crime has been released under supervision.

The decision has sparked debate, with host Tom Elliott questioning whether the judge’s ruling was completely “out of touch” with the severity of the offence.

Speaking on 3AW Mornings, CEO of the Les Twentyman Foundation Paul Burke defended the judge, saying that “a slap on the wrist” does not deter young criminals.

“Most of these young children are making bad decisions … our role is to help them make better decisions,” Burke said.
